Neurodevelopmental Assessment pathway & Support Services
Neurodevelopmental support services are there to cater for the diverse needs of children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions.
The Neurodevelopmental Support Team operates within the Family Service, and is there to provide early assistance to families concerned their child may have neurodevelopmental behavioural support needs suggestive of Autism or ADHD.
(The Neurodevelopmental Support Team does not accept self-referrals from families. Referrals must be made by a professional involved with your child and/or family, such as the Healthy Family Team, GP, or your child’s education setting).
The support they give should include:
- Referral triage/screening to determine if neurodevelopmental assessment needs are identified.
- A variety of evidence-based interventions for families of children and young people exhibiting concerning or challenging behaviours, both before and after diagnosis.
Support should be provided even if a formal diagnosis of Autism or ADHD is not established, but behaviours are indicative or characteristic of these conditions. Additionally, support is available for families of children and young people diagnosed with Autism and/or ADHD.
